I finally went on a trip to the LA Zoo with Alina on Sunday morning. The weather was cool so the animals were pretty active. There were some baby animals wandering around as well! I tried Vilppu's technique of creating "scenes" by drawing various subjects in one drawing regardless of whether they were all there at the same time. This little group of gerenuks was alternating between attacking the leaves on the tree and chasing each other around the yard.

wow! there's so much confidence in your strokes! you've done alot of 2d drawings before going into 3d?
By the way, i'm wondering which school did you study at? Would it be CalArts by any chance?
Thanks Andrew! Yeah, I grew up wanting to be a traditional animator, actually. Toy Story changed the industry, though, and so I changed with it! I still love drawing, though, I wish I did more.
Hahaha that's actually a really big compliment that you think I went to CalArts! I couldn't afford to go to art school, so I ended up at UCLA. And I think I would probably do the same again if I had to do it over, I liked that I was able to get a well-rounded education, and I met all my best friends there!

in some ways i am like you. i never got any art training till much later in life. more specifically... i didn't want to do programming anymore and i always loved to watch cartoons but i never drew before. i made an enormous gamble to just try out for animation.
though i didn't get in till my 2nd attempt it was well worth it. ^____^ I found what I really want to do! hehe!
